OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Occupational therapy for children aims to improve their daily functional activities like playing, sleeping, eating, and schoolwork. One-on-one therapy sessions are available for children aged between 18 months and 12 years.

More specifically, it includes working on:

  • Self-help skills like eating, toileting, dressing and grooming.
  • Fine motor activities such as pre-writing, using scissors and other refined hand movements, which are important for success in academic work.
  • Gross motor skills which involve strength and coordination of our body’s major muscle groups. These skills are needed in activities such as playing soccer, climbing monkey bars or riding a bicycle.
  • Sensory skills to effectively use all the senses to interpret signals from the environment (vision, hearing, touch, smell, and taste) as well as from inside the body (movement and internal body awareness).
  • Attention skills and arousal level to find out what motivates your child, how to help their body to get ready to learn and to pay attention and stay focused.

A set of goals will be identified after the trial sessions.
