INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING
This programme is designed for children between the ages of 4-12 who are currently experiencing emotional distress. The Individual Counselling programme is delivered through goal-oriented, individualised sessions provided on a regular basis with the aim to alleviate distress, build adaptive coping skills, and improve the child’s overall functioning. The programme includes an initial family meeting followed by recurring one-on-one sessions with the child. The areas addressed in the sessions are highly personalised, and may include:
- School or family stress
- Anxiety-related problems including social anxiety, selective mutism, phobia
- Depression or low mood
- Anger management and emotional regulation
- Social problems
What is the Process?
- Initial Family Meeting: Our psychologist will meet with the parents to learn about the child and their respective concerns. The staff and families will work collaboratively to decide on an intervention goal and on the duration and regularity of intervention.
- Counselling Sessions: The child will be seen individually by the psychologist to work on the presenting issues. Depending on the case nature, parents or main caregivers may be invited to join the sessions as well.
- Review Sessions: Review sessions with the parents can be arranged at regular intervals. In the review, parental concerns will be addressed and intervention goals may be modified according to the child’s most updated
