Music Therapist

The Child Development Centre (CDC) is a team of dedicated professionals providing
education, therapy and assessment plus family and community support, predominantly for children aged between birth and six years old with special educational/ additional needs.  For further details about our organisation, please see our website: www.cdchk.org.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ascertain whether individuals qualify for music therapy.
  • Designing musical interventions based on therapeutic goals to improve clients'
    psychological, physical, and social health.
  • Providing music therapy in individual and small group sessions
  • Inviting clients to interact by encouraging them to sing and dance.
  • Monitoring clients during musical interventions and measuring the effectiveness of sessions.
  • Recording on a periodic basis to measure effectiveness and progress.
  • Keeping records of client progress.
  • Conducting ongoing assessments to evaluate and support the client. Maintaining
    musical instruments.
Requirements:
  • An internationally recognized degree or equivalent degree in music therapy.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience as a music therapist.
  • Certified with Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
  • Outstanding people skills.
  • Proficient with playing guitar, piano/ keyboard, autoharp and/or percussion
    instruments.
  • Excellent singing abilities.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • If from overseas, a current Hong Kong work visa is desirable.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential, highly desirable in Chinese.
  • Excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
Job Package/Benefits:
  • This position is available on a freelance basis and will be paid on an hourly rate.
